Tammy Hyder - 2024 GA Project WET Facilitator of the Year

Tammy Hyder is the GA Project WET 2024 Facilitator of the Year.  Tammy is a retired educator after 35 years in the classroom, teaching all grades K - 8. Her last 12 years, in the classroom,  were spent teaching science exclusively to middle school students.  While in the classroom she used Project WET to supplement her science teaching.  She is currently working for the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Wildlife Division at Charlie Elliot Wildlife Center.  Here she is able to continue teaching teachers and homeschool students using a variety of science activities, along with the Project Wet curriculum.  Tammy facilitates Project WET activities and certifies participants in the Project WET curriculum during the Teacher Conservation Workshop every summer, and we greatly appreciate her support in representing Project WET so well!

Cherokee County Water and Sewerage Authority (CCWSA) is the GA Project WET 2024 Organization of the Year.  Education staff with CCWSA have been using Project WET educational activities for 20 years and continue to find ways to incorporate new activities into their educational programming. Topics covered with the activities are surface water, drinking water, and wastewater and programs are categorized as macroinvertebrates, human impact, water quality and water infrastructure.  In 2023, they reached 9,024 students through direct programing. With just Project WET programs we reached 2,158 students. Water education has been in place since 1998 at CCWSA and the program numbers are the highest of any year with 116,161 individuals contact through direct and indirect programing.
